In a new beta, WhatsApp for iOS improves PiP replication of Instagram and YouTube videos.

WhatsApp is releasing a new beta version of its iOS app. Users will be able to watch videos from Instagram, YouTube, and other sites within the app with this update.

According to WABetaInfo, the app’s version introduces a new interface for picture-in-picture video reproduction, which includes a new control bar. “It allows shifting the picture-in-picture view effortlessly, and it also includes various conveniences, such as the ability to terminate the movie and show it in full-screen mode,” according to the magazine.

Only a few iOS beta testers will be able to use the new control bar, according to WABetainfo, since WhatsApp is gradually rolling out the functionality to new versions of the app.

“Some iOS beta testers could notice a slight change after playing a YouTube video within WhatsApp,” according to the site, because the software “immediately presents it in full-screen mode.” This feature has also been given out for select beta testers, according to WAbetaInfo.

Of course, just because new features are being tested doesn’t guarantee they’ll make it into the stable version of the program. Not only that, but WhatsApp has updated its branding for ‘WhatsApp from Meta’ in a new beta version.

The business that controls Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger, among other programs, is known as Meta. Mark Zuckerberg announced the shift with the company’s ambition to reach a billion users in the metaverse in a decade, saying:

As part of this, it’s time for us to adopt a new company brand to encompass everything that we do. To reflect who we are and what we hope to build. I’m proud to announce our company is now Meta.
